shout out to my 3rd, 4th, 6th, teacher, Mr McDaniels who decided that we didn't need to learn imperial measurements because the US would switch to the metric system by the time we were adults. He was wrong.

my current employer uses inches for SOME stuff (but not all) and it drives me fucking bonkers. it is not the industry standard, and no one in Asia uses inches. just today I was like "what the fuck does 7/8" mean" and had to convert it to mm
He should have been right. Think of all the savings if he had been. That rocket that didn't work because of errors in knowing what measurement system, what Barb has experience - all over, this is a problem.
I just get so irritated because using fractions of inches is so fucking imprecise and there is a very easy replacement system that everybody is already familiar with!
omgwtfbarb: yep. Spoonflower does wallpaper in inches so most of my measurements are in inches, unfortuantely. but I will revert it to pixels when I have to be really precise because fuck inches

I also had a US history teacher in high school who said that if the popular vote ever was more for a candidate than the electoral college, we'd get rid of the electoral college. that was like 1995, so he was wrong there.

My elementary school teacher made us learn the metric system because the change was imminent...40 years ago.
