Kidney failure is what takes a lot of older housecats. They outlive their kidneys due to our loving care, much older than their wild counterparts.

I would probably talk to the breeder and let them know, and maybe see if it's something that's happened with any of their other cats.

Some cats are just prone to kidney issues. I had a rescue cat I took in from my neighborhood...we started feeding him and eventually he warmed up to us enough to come inside...

codie - it's surprisingly common. Our kitty lived a bit longer but she had the same problem, within a week she went from normal and healthy to total kidney failure. It's shocking, fast and so unfair.
