Good afternoon plurk, it's comics time o/ This time we follow the saga of OmniSolve™, aka: That time Scrooge almost destroyed the earth and he and Co. had to go to the literal center to fix it; that time Scrooge accidentally made the World's Greatest Thief worse of a threat; and the time said thief came back.
This is a series of stories written and drawn by Don Rosa. The first one is pretty self-contained but then leads into the second and third, which happened when Rosa was tasked with coming up with his own adversary. So let's start on with the first one.
We start in Gyro's labs, to find that Scrooge has tasked him with an invention. After briefly killing Little Helper, Scrooge also, naturally, goes overboard with the wonder solvent. Poor Donald's house.
I'm putting this page in by itself because one, those acrobatics deserve a focus and two, the speech bubble fuckery that Rosa tends to do based on direction (see: A Matter of Some Gravity) makes this one a little harder to read.
We start up the hill to the Money Bin where Scrooge has been waiting on a special piece for his treasure room, Donald is a wonderful ass (what else is new), and then we see the most thinly disguised thief ever.
I hope you're ready for a bunch of solvent shenanigans, because that's now where we're heading, with Lusene putting together the titular armor and doing what any good egotistical thief does in a position of power: run amok.
On the subject of Rosa's stories there's a few others I want to cover in the near future, like the aforementioned Oolated Squiggs one, one involving checking out a mountain whose title escapes me at the moment, the one mentioned at the beginning of The Black Knight, aaaannnnd also
Honestly this story is one of my favorites, though it didn't start out that way, and even though I don't have the U$A stories saved on my harddrive like I do the legacy U$ line I still want to cover it, because dang is His Majesty, McDuck a good one.
(I also want to redo On A Silver Platter because I just kind of dumped it into a temperamental plurk and it deserves more than that >_> The mountain one is another shorter gag story, so I'll probably do a few of those some day)
