由咕嚕飾演者Andy Serkis 擔任主演和導演，故事也圍繞咕嚕而起，暫訂片名是 Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum ，將探索「尚未講述的故事情節」～

此前還有一部動畫電影The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim，預計今年12/13發行，故事發生在哈比人冒險記的200年前。
