But the people who are working on AI have different priorities. Their corporate masters want them to eliminate human beings from the equation, and since they're engineers, that's always been their dream anyway.

I find it kinda humorous that people don't seem to realize that their welfare and convenience doesn't matter at all to their corporate and political overlords. They'd be happy if we all died, except then they wouldn't have anyone to sneer at.
