Like sudoku but hate numbers? This is a version using map features instead.

I don't even know what sudoku is supposed to do.

SFFCorgi: A sudoku is a kind of logical puzzle where each sub-square and each line (vertical, horizontal) contains one of each pattern (usually 1 to 9), and only one of each. So you have to eliminate all possibilities for each position based on what is already present on the grid.

Qwis: Looks cute, but the interface is borked on Safari; I can't select what I want to put in. Ah well. I have plenty of traditional sudokus I can play.

It is indeed borked on Safari. I also use Chrome, so I gave it a shot in there. It works, but I like it more conceptually than in practice. I like that there's something to point the "I wouldn't like Sudoku because I don't like math" crowd to, but for me it was way harder to easily scan than numbers are.

Letters or simple colors would probably be better than these low-bit tonal blobs. (Not critiquing the quality... my point is that they're both too simple and too complex to transfer into a something verbal I can hold in my brain.)

Something that you can look at and immediately translate into a verbal concept, like "G" or "red." Of course, that may just be how I process Sudoku puzzles.

Indeed, the "something verbal I can hold in my brain" is the problem in this version. Sudoku works best with something that has an easily accessible meaning in our minds. Numbers are a given, letters could work; as would cards and points.

This plurk made me look up and find a letter-based one. It took a minute to get used to but was otherwise pretty straightforward. If someone told me they didn't want try Sudoku because of the numbers, I'd send them to that one.
