As mentioned in an earlier plurk, AC will be ten comments from any number of threads. Meeting AC will earn you two points, and every ten comments past that will earn one point, to a maximum of 10 points at 90 comments.
What can you do with these points? Well, that's where things get fun.
5 points is a small, non-living regain - smaller than a recliner, let's say. 10 points is a medium non-living regain (smaller than a car) or a small living regain. 25 points is a large non-living regain (house-sized or smaller) or a medium living regain. 40 points is an enormous non-living regain or large living regain. 70 points nets enormous living things.
You can also buy in-character rewards, which will generally be cheaper than regains, and will be judged on a case-by-case basis.
Bonus Points, on top of the base ten, will also be awarded through event participation, including some player plots! One to five points will be awarded per event.
Now, here's the fun part. Points can also be used to buy new genetics, and to remove old genomes, to a minimum of one.
Plant and animal genomes will be about 5 points, while the genomes of creatures specific to a character's canon will likely be 25 points. To get genes from another canon, 40 points.
All prices are tentative and subject to change.
I'm also considering counting TDM interaction for players in-game as bonus points - 1 point for every thread that reaches sample length.
Thoughts, questions, comments, and concerns are all welcome
It's flexible. If you just want to play Sailor Mars with cat ears but want to get a job at a shrine and a house, you can ensure that with points, or you can assemble an ultimate chimera, or you can play a Metal Gear character and regain a helicopter. There's a lot that can be done!
The genes from another canon is expensive because it's stupid flexible. You want to be part-pokemon, done. I'm not sure special powers will carry over at that price, I may make a 70-point tier for special powers to carry over.
are these IC regains--as in, do the characters themselves request them?
Depends on the situation! A local reward should be requested or sought out - a house or other property, a stable job, local animals, etc. On the other hand, genetics might just express themselves without warning, especially local native genetics or those native to a character's home. They may also choose to get more.
The regain rewards are granted as rewards for a job well done OR can be requested IC.
So only in-character on-planet rewards are required to be requested IC, though the actual requests and seeking can be hand-waved.
It's assumed your character has been looking for a better place than the studio apartments they can get automatically, for instance, if you request a house.
I like the idea of making TDM threads point-earning too - it'sa good way to head off people being less inclined to tag on TDM's when they've got game threads for points, and will help out the new players
