今年開始，衛報將與全球見證者（Global Witness）合作，記錄下這些為了保護地球自然環境而死亡的「保衛者」，不論是那些死於森林大火的消防員，或者是遭人謀害的原住民土地權益運動人士。
Most dangerous places for defenders2015年，132名土地與環境保衛人士死於巴西，是全球最高紀錄。大部分的人都是因為與亞馬遜非法伐木對抗而死。
菲律賓則名列第二：75。
宏都拉斯則人為最危險區，殺害率比其他地方還高。
2016年則是最暴力的一年：200人。
