(the import is just upscrewed, so I may need to dump it as a .txt file and do all the formatting all over again? which will suck but my own fault for fuckery with formatting, I guess.)

Do you not save under a new filename each time?

For all bigger things I do I have AT LEAST one fresh copy per day I work on it, usually more.

yes, but I’m trying to make a new epub with a new program (Affinity v3) and the import doesn’t work right. I may need to go into the word doc, bring up the
formatting codes, and see if weirdness has gotten in there before going to a txt file and doing the formatting from start.

If you download it sends you to a web page where you select the version. that "Enterprise" version is the usual .exe. I picked the other one and then had 2 versions in parallel, with one being on default settings...

So pick the Enterprise and see if it wants to update or install new. If it doesn't say update, then you probably have the other version installed.

I opened it up today and got the update dialogue. I'm doing some reading right now, so I can see what's up.

When I was still trying to sell on Google Books, I used Calibre to convert .doc or .docx to ePub. I used the Smashwords guide for formatting the Word document for easy conversion
