Argument between octupi and locks has to be arbitrated
(No uh, let me think of something good. I do think Kit and Nita as scientists in whatever facility is the reason we know octopuses can unlock doors is a FUNNY image...)

(I’ve realized that adult Kit and Nita’s deadpan in my head — or at least, the general cadence of dialogue in the books, I’d have to remind myself of them specifically — is not TERRIBLY unlike some of the repartee between Cam and Pal when we first meet them in GT9th and I’m not ...entirely sure that’s all on my end.

This one in particular is one of my faves and is VERY DDish feeling to me:

[on psychometry giving different ages for adjacent parts of a building] “Either this entire building was scavenged from a garbage hopper, or I am being systematically lied to on a molecular level."

“Maybe the building’s shy.”

“That is just tough shit for the building.”
