Today National Science Fiction Day, a date that honors the birth, 105 years ago, of literary sci-fi genius Isaac Asimov. A Russian immigrant in Brooklyn, he taught himself to read at age 5, skipped several grades, and got his high school diploma at 15. He sold his first short story at the age of 19.

January Night Sky Lit by a ‘Planet Parade’

Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn will all be extremely visible.

January 17th and 18th, appear at their closest points in sky even though they’re actually hundreds of millions of miles apart.

Directly above our heads, Jupiter will be signing bright. To the east, Mars will reach opposition in mid-January.
