    ultimately it's new emoticons (s_tongue)
  • pennygersh says
No, but it *is* an added fun benefit.

no, not at all.... I love the individual conversations here. The karma is an added bonus.
  • sonnygill
Nope, its about making those connections...i could care less about the Karma, i think its a bit of a ploy just to keep ppl using plurk.
  • Rami says
not at all, I started plurking without giving Karma any attention, only recently when I got up to 40 did keep an eye on it
  • tamar says
i think many people find it as a big incentive though. wouldn't you say?
  • quiltcetera says
I love plurk cuz it's easy to follow conversations. Karma? Extra motivation.
  • pennygersh says
I think the karma scores and comparing them (and the emoticons) brings out the zany/geekiness in us.
  • sdohrn thinks
it definitely is an incentive, almost a perverse one - makes it easier to get addicted
  • sonnygill
I'm betting that if they got rid of karma (or didn't start off with it in the first place) ppl wouldn't be plurking as much.
  • sonnygill
like a 3rd of the plurks i see is about ppl talking about their karma and how it went up or down.
  • vbin says
shame on you karma whores out there (you know who you are)!
  • smashingred says
Karma is a distraction and in many ways a detraction. On Twitter if you are sharing you will get follows and more convo. Here its noise.
  • smashingred says
Its human nature to get more when they have the ability to through their own action.
  • smashingred says
it takes discipline or apathy to ignore your Karma stats.
  • semscholar says
I plurk more often because of karma but I would plurk nonetheless
  • pennygersh says
I think there are 3 camps here: 1. Above Karma 2. Enjoy Karma 3. Whore Karma.
  • sdohrn says
and we all enjoy the convos
  • kevyn says
    nope , sorry
  • theGypsy says
was an interesting novelty originally... not much any more
  • minmax2k says
Karma is almost the reason I don't plurk!
  • esonline says
some of us, especially those that are/were Tweeps, understand the social and network aspects of this medium.
  • minmax2k says
Gather.com has had Gather Points for a few years... they can be redeemed for cash money, but that's not my motivation...
  • CantonDog says
nope. Plurk Karma is a novelty, but not the reason I stay on the site.
  • Rubab says
i love to talk to my friends and get their responses.. which i normally dont experience..
  • mwilton13 says
No, my hopes are that Plurk will eventually take off and start some great discussions between SEO/SEM's. I am tired of the karma whores...
  • topsurf says
I think when you start out it's all about the K and the emoticons, then you develop friendships and the K doesn't really matter anymore IMO
  • topsurf says
I enjoy the conversations and the friendships much more than the K. The K is just like the cherry on top of an ice cream sundae
  • MikeLewis says
I do it for the smileys (g_party)
  • thor13
maybe but i like the interesting ppl like you
  • mwilton13 says
No, karma is one of the reasons I often don't want to plurk. Too many people are karma crazy and feel the need to plurk just for karma.
  • ★Lifecruiser says
Nope, definitely not. As shown by my not so many plurks comparing to plurk responses. It's all about socializing & have fun (s_dance)
  • lizard.beer
are you kidding me? it rocks here. i care about the karma but i LOVE the plurk.
