It is sad to see things plummeting down hill for SL. Other grids are posing a more attractive financial aspect for those investing.

Many on other grids continue to talk about morale being up on those grids, feeling welcomed there, and included, unlike experiences in SL.

Only 2 points that people are not moving elsewhere in a rush: general residents dont want to lose all their stuff and
  • Tillie
business owners probably not trusting in their stuff being protected over there (at least a bit).

If SL ever did die out, I don't think I'd go to another virtual world unless it gave me more than SL. And having people in my face when I log in [Avination] or being dicks to me [Inworldz] isn't going to make

me sign up and log in very much.

But with slow or no DCMA responses from LL that point is vanishing, too.

If tier were about half I most probably would pay the same just by having 2 instead of 1 sim.

If SL closed down in the near future I would log into opensim grids like InWorldz etc. I think everyone has noticed a big decline in 2012 in terms of regions, active users and signups etc.

I'll continue to publish my findings every quarter on my SL blog to report on whats going on bad or good.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I go back to Inworldz. We DID go to Avination recently and while some people were very nice to us there, it was like they were trying too hard. What I enjoyed about SL when I

first started is that no one bothered me. I was free to run around and explore and do things without people in my face.

But then again, I'm antisocial or something.

There was one like 3 years ago that everyone was moving to, but they didn't allow kid avs there, so I never went

I don't like that SL is trying to become WoW like, I got the impression at SLCC in 2011 that they where trying to be better than WoW
  • Jaelle
in WoW you have to press enter to talk, WoW is all Mesh, when I was at the convention LLs was talking more about WoW than SL. there are more similarities, but I have to go

seeing the concurrency continuing to dip is the most worrisome to me.
  • Nanners©
huh, that's not what I was thinking was WoW-like about SL - I was thinking about how they have in common that their major selling point now is how they remain the largest communities.
  • Nanners©
neither one is really an exemplar of the best ways of accomplishing things tech-wise anymore.
  • Jaelle
and I didn't like while at the convention that they were saying they wanted to be better than WoW, SL and Wow are 2 different things,

I really do hope the SL user concurrency problem changes next year and starts to increase. I don't want to see it decrease further because that would be very worrying.
