  • cl0udi3 asks
do u want me to try?
  • willyfoo says
    with a 237mb file?
  • cl0udi3 says
or u can try using 7-zip
  • willyfoo says
    i'll try 7-zip now
  • cl0udi3 says
7-zip is so far the most powerful unzipping s/w i've used
  • willyfoo says
nope.. extracted to 461mb and asked what app I wanted to open this file up with.
  • willyfoo says
i suspect the file is a tar.gz file..
  • willyfoo says
so the archivers unzipped it.. which windows app handles tarballs?
  • willyfoo says
still no.. renamed it *.tar and winrar icon appeared.. means winrar can handle tar but shows unrecognised format
  • willyfoo says
or private message me a ftp account and I can upload there.
  • hendri says
try IZArc? It can handle .tar.gz pretty well.
  • miccheng says
7zip doesn't extract gzip files directly it seems. It extracts to tar. And u have to untar that file again with 7zip.
  • cl0udi3 wonders
if willyfoo has managed to extract the files
  • Yuhui asks
    a basic question: what's the 461MB file's extension?
  • willyfoo says
    no extension
  • Yuhui says
if this is on a Mac, drag the file into Text Editor and look for clues about the application that was used and/or file type.
