  Be careful some car charges can cause you to blow a fuse. Check the nipple thingy on the end, its the ground. Some springs go bad on them

  My car has a separate plugin thingy besides the cig lighter for just such devices. Would that be safer to use?

  Its a fault of the charger not the car.
