happy to learn that the subject for his summer course would be cancelled next year, in a way good news that I wasn't able to take it.

  back story: i wanted to take that summer course end of this year, but couldn't as it was too full - their priority was failed students.

  erm it's actually good, since nearly all of us hated the subject, plus the lecturer's a little sucky too :/
