Hi Magic Lady! And I agree, a lot of the time it is!
  • AmberCadabra
I mean penalizing a dude because he chucks the ball in the air? it's SPORTS people! Lighten up!

A few years ago, Bama was in OT, and they stopped the other team and the players jumped on each other in end zone and they called penalty
  • MackCollier says
Bama had to start at Arkansas 40 instead of 25. They could have hit chipshot FG for win, but ended up losing
  • AmberCadabra
See, this is what I mean. So what, a bunch of grown men are going to get their feelings hurt or something??? puh=LEEZE
  • MackCollier says
well I can see it with the ball, but the cheering with each other a lot of times is ridiculous
  • AmberCadabra
I don't see what's wrong with spiking the ball or chucking in the air. Who does that hurt?
  • AmberCadabra
I suppose they're trying to set an example for being a gracious winner or something huh?
  • EagleHawk
it hurts the other players feelings.
  • treypennington says
you are absolutely right. The players should play to the outcome of the game, not the officials.
  • EagleHawk
there aren't supposed to be winners and losers..
  • AmberCadabra
LOL EagleHawk maybe we should end every game with a rousing rendition of Kumbaya?
  • AmberCadabra
Oh. Ok, um. Perhaps I should consult my attorneys before saying anything else.
  • EagleHawk thinks
the only song allowed is the communist anthem..
  • MackCollier says
celebrating clearly infringes upon the other team's fans having a chance to enjoy the game
  • AmberCadabra
Susan, I'm with you. Just seemed really silly to me.
  • susanreynolds
believes in the players being taught sportsmanship - but tossing the ball that way was not excessive sportmanship IMHO
  • MackCollier says
BTW I didn't see the play, but I think a lot of times they will be picky at first to send message to players to not get out of line
  • AmberCadabra
You're right Susan. I tease about the guys being sissies, but I do think there's a level of sportsmanship that's appropriate.
  • AmberCadabra
Mack, that's a good point. And you're probably right.

I bought the NCAA 09 game for playstation. they throw a flag for giving eachother high 5's ... I've had to turn that one off.
  • AmberCadabra
Oy, even in a video game??? Sheeeeeesh.
  • EagleHawk
I had thought NCAA 08 was bad, but it is even worse in 09

I would normally agree with AmberCadabra but I wanted BYU to beat Washington so right now I am pro anti-celebration rule.
  • AmberCadabra
LOL Jeff I see - fair weather rules lawyer then? ;-)
  • AZJazzyJ says
BYU needs all the help they can get to overcome the evil BCS empire.
  • silky says
over here in England footballers get booked if they take their shirts off to celebrate a goal... for reasons I forget now.
  • silky says
Yeah, for a while it went crazy... players diving into the crowd, fans mauling players, took 5 mins to restart the game.
  • silky says
and you're right... there was the unsightly chest hair issues :-)
  • silky says
we also go through "crack downs" every year. Recently it's been "respect the ref" and "don't break people legs". The world's gone soft ;-)
  • AmberCadabra
Seriously! It's not a game until someone's leg gets broken or a ref gets called a blind and gutless suckwad.
  • silky says
and as long as we all shake hands afterwards, does it really matter what actually happens on the "field of dreams"?
