    Teachers who don't want their children to be teachers really worry me. Noble profession, even if it is not viewed that way in the public now

    Well some of the teachers expressed that they didn't want their children to struggle financially as they did.

    One said she wanted her daughter to be more than she herself was. She was a talented girl and wanted her to "take on the world."

    But she also said if that's what made her daughter happy she would support her.

    I did and after working in NYC for 2 yrs my daughter got cert as a spec ed teacher and starts her new job next week.

    Struggling financially does worry me, and the profession has become politicized with NCLB to the point of being almost scripted for testing.

    my son want to be a teacher, fine with me, want him to focus on love a learning and desire to never stop.

    actually I want that to be for both kids, but I know too many teachers who stopped learning. :-(

    not in this pretty great state. Low pay, little support, huge hassles. Wait, why am I still doing it?

    I have two sons who have talked about teaching classes. I don't think they want to do it as a primary career, but they see the value.

    that my dad warned me that teaching is "an honorable profession, like nursing. Not easy, not lucrative, but very honorable!" Appreciated it.
