would it be work money if sold on eBay
  • Zomby
If I can't sell them, then "I don't need your stinking badges!"

Hey, I got a red star badge! :-) What are the possible badges?
  • reneguerrero
i'm thinking platinum with a modest single caret in the middle of a star..
  • martinbogo
contacts you -- plurkpix is a community site :-)
  • reneguerrero
under the plurk banner? is it affiliated?
  • reneguerrero
sorry, i'm thinking marketing instead of tech
  • SharonHH says
    great idea
  • RohanPinto thinks
every user here is making the " plurk community" grow, be it via their blog or the use if other social sites or just speaking about it....
  • RohanPinto
    so everybody needs a badge
  • RohanPinto
if you discriminate..... You loose users.... Do u really want that to happen ?
  • martinbogo
pshaws, Rohan, that's like saying "Everyone exercises, so why should we reward an olypmpic athlete as exceptional."
  • martinbogo
Some people put more than the usual amount of effort, and it's a good thing to recognize the efforts.
  • reneguerrero
i suppose so. but i don't do what i do to be recognized. i do it because it helps everyone (myself included) and ultimately society itself
  • reneguerrero
it's a win/win situation. and the history books will be my badge.
  • RohanPinto
I do what I do, badge or no badge... Setting up a " community" site for plurk is easy... But the tracktion it brings is way more important
  • RohanPinto
so rewarding. "few" select ain't fair... And cmon now... Gimme a iPhone app... Not a web mobile app... And that's a champion
  • RohanPinto says
it takes less than a day to setup an rss aggregator of sorts... Does that qualify ?
  • RohanPinto
I don't intend to discourage folks from building apps...... But
  • reneguerrero
man, and i get shut down for less...
  • RohanPinto
the amount of folks I have tried to convince that plurks netter than the rest is quite substantial...
  • RohanPinto
did I do it for a badge " no", do I want a badge "no"...
  • RohanPinto asks
so.. Does that mean I do less for plurk than someone else ?
  • PatriciaMuller says
wow, is it really that big of a deal?
  • LChamp says
i have reservations about sites that have special rewards for "special" users. Every user promotes this site...why are some more special?
  • martinbogo has
found that RohanPinto will often take a contrarian, and controversial view on things.
  • martinbogo
respects, but utterly disagrees with Rohan's logic -and- position on this.
  • martinbogo
The badges aren't a reason to do something, but they are a "thank you"
  • martinbogo
Which in general polite society are accepted with a "thank you, very much appreciated" rather than spit, ire, and acid.
  • martinbogo
(Pardon the hijacking of this plurk Amix .. shall we move it to a new one?)
  • martinbogo
(mind you, declining is just as simple .. "Thank you, but I can't accept.")
  • Te-ge
isn't sure it qualifies since my blog isn't solely devoted to Plurk, but I have the 10 Minute Guide To Plurk and calendars
  • reneguerrero
what do we have to do to qualify?
  • LindaZ
Did Teeg mentioned her creation of the Plurkiversary calendar where everyone can post their b'day so we can plurk them the day of
  • reneguerrero
i think womenofplurk is going to be the bomb. better than a community- we take it to the streets...
  • ThoughtWrong wonders
if there will be a way to filter the interesting plurkers page to view pleeps w/ badges and such?
  • PlurkingPoppa wonders
if the A-Team values honesty or only wants to recognize schmoozers? (g_thinking)
  • amix says
we will in the future have all sorts of badges that recognize people that help plurk and the plurk community - this is just one of the first
  • mojaam says
amix: I like the badge idea. I've noticed the invitation badge although deniz invited 6 but has the badge anyway.
  • mojaam asks
    you guys probably testing right?
  • alvin says
hehe nice catch, mojaam. we gave deniz that star very early on to test the star system. maybe it's time to ask for it back!
  • RohanPinto thinks
its nice to see that we all disagree and agree with each other on plurk and still be "friends".. what a wonderful world :-)
  • Jane Chin likes
plurk A-team and amix for recognizing community effort; thanks guys! :-D
  • Cristian Ciofu says
I just launched a blog about Plurk and the site will be launched soon - what do you think? blog.plurkr.net is the blog [for now] :-)
  • Connie
amix, our plurkshops.com site is listed as one of the unofficial blogs, but several of us maintain it. Could the badge be put on our blog?
  • amix says
connie: sure thing, just give me the nick names of persons involved
  • amix says
connie: i have now given the community badge to all of plurkshop's members
  • Connie
Thank you so much, amix. We enjoy using Plurk to have in-depth discussions like the plurkshops.
  • Scruffy Bob says
we don't need no steenkin badges!
  • Scruffy Bob says
err.. but they are still pretty nice :-)
  • miketempleton says
I love this idea. It shows that the A-Team is more involved than just running the site. They're also out there supporting users.
  • leonniefm
coz I haven't seen any badges on his profile & I think he deserve one.
  • PlurkingPoppa thinks
it's Martin who often tries to discredit peeps (Rohan in this instance) who point out Plurk shortcomings ...
  • PlurkingPoppa thinks
that like karma, the badge *are* a reason to do something because they are judgmental, do rank contributions, and cause competition
  • PlurkingPoppa wonders
why amix immediately responded to Christian with a badge but is still ignoring Poppa's much older blog?
