    obviously I tried this - it said "document was not saved"

    check to see if there are hidden files in the folder. there might be an autorecovery file you don't see

    I should have done it sooner than 40 minutes in - but seriously, "excel has disabled auto-save for this file"??? I hate you right now excel

    So after the Veesta mess MS is now messing with Office? :'-( IBM is giving away Symphony which is based on OpenOffice I believe. :-P
