  • Sociologist says
    I don't get it? What'd she do?
  • Cindy Thomas says
it seems she has pretended to be her own daughter or got her daughter to say she is very cery sick and neded money
  • Cindy Thomas says
and got money sent to her...
  • Cindy Thomas says
people have good hearts and want to help when they think there is a need
  • Sociologist asks
and of course, we know her daughter isn't *really* sick??
  • Cindy Thomas says
it's the mom, the plurker, who is supposed to be very sick
  • Cindy Thomas says
reading through the long post, it's appearing it's nothing more than a scam to get money from people :-(
  • Cindy Thomas says
I just discovered her recently and didn't think anything of it, only saw from another that she needed prayers... and well now this
  • ShimmerGeek
I just saw it through a friend :-( it makes me so sad...
  • ShimmerGeek
it's great to see so many caring wonderful people willing to help
  • texasjenn says
    oops I missed it....what happened?
  • ShimmerGeek
but on the other hand, it's horrible that we live in a world where this is probably a scam, and we have to presume so
  • ShimmerGeek
texasjenn, basically a woman has posted here for some time and her "daughter" came on saying she'd gotten really ill
  • ShimmerGeek
and would basically die if she didnt receive money for treatment soon
  • Cindy Thomas says
yeah I agree shimmer.. so many willing to help, yet then it turn out this way
  • ShimmerGeek
everyone was dying to help but then started noticing inaccuracies and holes in the story
  • ShimmerGeek
and "they" won't provide details of a hospital or anything
  • Cindy Thomas says
I applaude those willing to give.. just so sad being taken and used... so many truly do need help
  • AsKatKnits says
I knew it was a scam when the posts read about no treatment (dialysis) without payment. That just is not true - they will treat without any
  • ShimmerGeek
yeah.. that did seem odd to me but i'm not from the U.S. so i wasnt certain how it works there
  • ShimmerGeek
didnt like to presume and be wrong
  • Cindy Thomas says
if it is real, they would have no problem giving info to back it up... newspaper article, something, anything
  • ShimmerGeek
aye - all it takes is a hospital name and all the money is theres to help
  • Cindy Thomas says
They have to treat in such a situation, reagardless of ability to pay or having insurance
  • texasjenn thinks
it is sad how people play on others sympathys ..makes it hard for the ones who really need the help and prayers :'-(
  • AsKatKnits says
exactly Cindy - that was what tipped me off
  • JustJen
hey ladies - it seems I may have opened up a black hole yesterday?
  • JustJen
while I was the one that started asking the hard questions and providing the medical information late last night
  • JustJen
I've been crying foul in private plurks for days
  • ShimmerGeek
it shows what amazing people there are on Plurk to all offer their support
  • ShimmerGeek
i would hate to see such kind people scammed
  • Cindy Thomas says
the good thing about this is shows there are people willing to help
  • AsKatKnits says
problem is once burnt, twice shy
  • Cindy Thomas says
if you have a feeling something is not right, follow that feeling, always
  • AsKatKnits says
there maybe some truly needy folks that get zilch because of this.
  • Cindy Thomas says
just know that because one person does this, most will not
  • ShimmerGeek
it was a very sophisticated scam (if it is) - building trust over time, getting a backstory.. but holes start to develop
  • Cindy Thomas says
when one lies... if lying.. they must remember the lies... that's where the holes come in and get bigger
  • JustJen
as similar scheme happened on myspace about a year ago surrounding a friend and a cancer patient
  • AsKatKnits says
you got that right Cindy...I was suspicious reading her profile...
  • Cindy Thomas says
I just hope those that did help don't feel so horribly about reaching out to someone they thought was in need
  • AsKatKnits says
payment was made to a paypal account, correct?
  • Cindy Thomas says
Perhaps they could contact PayPal if that's how payments were sent and get monies back?
  • AsKatKnits says
I think they can call the police - that is totally traceable.
  • AsKatKnits says
I think that kind of fraud is a federal offense
  • ShimmerGeek
i do think paypal is a good route to check through
  • AsKatKnits says
exactly... those funds take a few days to show up in the account.
  • Cindy Thomas says
About 4 business days I believe
  • AsKatKnits says
    yeah. something like that
  • Lolagrrl says
I think that Lilly has been creating a very rich and somewhat fake online persona for years. I mean hell, I'd love to look like her pictures
  • Lolagrrl says
    and now it's catching up
  • Lolagrrl says
BTW - I've noticed that someone signed on and off lilly's stumble blog in the last 2 hours. Yes. I've been absorbed all night. Screw TV!
  • Cindy Thomas says
some Plurkers are doing some research... putting it all together should be intertesting
  • Lolagrrl says
I've been doing a bit of research 2. There are lots of similar info on different sites, leads me 2 the real person/glamorized persona theory
  • Cindy Thomas says
the internet leaves a trail... always
  • Lolagrrl is
overwhelmed at the number of sites she runs!
  • Cindy Thomas says
that shows what she got after making that chipin site widnet
  • Cindy Thomas says
has anyone noticed that her account has been logged into July 15th? like now??
  • Lolagrrl says
Let this be a lesson to us all. If you're going to run an Internet biz (or 20) be yourself!
  • Lolagrrl says
    ... and don't get sick. ;-)
  • Lolagrrl says
Oh, I'm going to hell for that, aren't I?
  • JustJen
if you're going Lolagrrl, we're all probably going too
  • SharonHH says
    fascinating
  • Hope says
I wondered when I first saw that thread. Pitiful. Some people. (s_annoyed)
  • bunneh says
all very fascinating and sad :-( also remember that lillyann might be real, but the plurker could be stealing lillyann's identity
  • ArmchairDeity says
to AsKatKnits... as one of the ones who got the public side of this all rolling, I have zero belief that Godfather is involved.
  • ArmchairDeity
none, at all, and I wish that people would quit trying to involve other known plurkers who don't have any guilt other than to have
  • ArmchairDeity
befriended someone who very masterfully played us all for a while and some of us beyond that... there were MANY others who went above and
