DeathKoala
[FTV: Realms] Lost in the hubbub of the card reveals, some personal observations...
DeathKoala Got the opinion of a Vintage-Legacy-playing co-worker: This is more of a Legacy set than an EDH set. DeathKoala At least half these lands are staples in certain Legacy archetypes. DeathKoala So the EDH players will get additional availability attrition from the Legacy boys. DeathKoala More important to me: Every FTV thus far has revealed a card to be printed in the coming block. SO WHICH ONE IS IT?! DeathKoala Two ideas. Lesser one: Dryad Arbor. Dryads have appeared in Ravnica, and this feels very Selesnya. DeathKoala More interesting possibility: Murmuring Bosk. First, it doesn't name a plane-specific location. DeathKoala Second, it's a multiland that has a basic land type. Would this mean a full insane cycle of these lands? DeathKoala It would be extra-crazy because that would imply that RTR is both a gold set AND a tribal set. DeathKoala I wouldn't really mind, in a void, though that would mean no reprint of the original awesome Rav duals. DeathKoala Final thought: at 1750 at a 50php to $1 exchange rate at MSRP, should I buy for mostly foily goodness, or use that money to buy... DeathKoala ...every Rav land that I don't already own once the set comes out? As someone who likes to deck switch rather often, it's a conundrum. DeathKoala Then again, on further thought, the chances of this being sold at MSRP are very unlikely... DeathKoala ...so looks like my decision will be made purely on inflated price and/or lack of availability. DeathKoala Co-worker says he's disappointed in the lack of Wasteland, but understands that both Maze and Wasteland would drive the value of the product DeathKoala to insane levels. Probably why they had to put in Desert and Shivan Gorge. J'lyeh ^^ well yeah. i wasn't surprised in the least that there duds. i was more happy than disappointed that there were 'just' two DeathKoala It's also missing Island, the most powerful land in Magic. J'lyeh actually, even if we broke the reserved list rule J'lyeh they'd probably troll us with something like Teferi's Isle. i'm actually going to recommend this set to some friends J'lyeh for investment purposes, because the resell value is just over the top J'lyeh and if they make money off it, baka hingin ko yung Cephalid Coliseum
DeathKoala Interesting how so many people are saying this sucks though. I'll also note that this gets closer to MSRP in resale when you're in the PH. DeathKoala Pricing comparison: Holiday gift box, $20 for a box and 4 boosters and a Dreg Mangler (and still an awesome gift, really... cough), DeathKoala Commander's Arsenal, $75 for 18 foils, 10 oversized foils, tokens, sleeves, and the Awesomest Life Counter Ever Made. Dancing Bear lol, if the resale value is that high, I wish my cousin stocked more FTV:Realms here. It's too bad that's not their main focus
