Just waking up after a marathon The Secret World weekend. Damn, that game is a keeper. Now I just have to buy it.
KateyʚKaitlyn Oooh yay is it really good? I was really on the fence but didn't have time for the betas to try it out so I'll be going on recommendations isle says It's amazing. I am constantly being surprised by the puzzles and place names and cutscenes... It frustrates and challenges but even with isle says the frustration of some hard puzzles, you get the satisfaction of solving or beating a hard mission. rare now in most MMOs. Kriss Lehmann well, first thing that got me was the environments. A lot of nice details and the world felt FULL. You can feel that they are real places Kriss Lehmann next, like isle said: the missions. They didn't feel grindy, and the main missions are stories, so they don't feel pointless Kriss Lehmann Some are real puzzles, either researching online, or paying CLOSE attention to the game environment to figure them out. Mostly both at Kriss Lehmann The music, stories and overall mood though... very enveloping. I will definitively get this game. Then I can actually play on my own time Kriss Lehmann Another interesting aspect is the "no levels" thing. You DO progress by earning points and spending them on abilities, so at first I'm like Kriss Lehmann "I AM leveling!", but if I decide to choose a different skill set, I can go back to the start and redo the quests (15 hour reset on quests) Kriss Lehmann and my new abilities at that point would be low lvl again. So... there is progression, that can be argued as leveling or not... perception Kriss Lehmann I created about 8 different characters in the end, checking out different ability decks. I didn't have the time to wait and request on one Kriss Lehmann But yeah... very full environments, nice quest stories, not grindy feeling at all. (you are almost constantly attacked, so that is the Kriss Lehmann You also get rewards for following a particular "deck" or archetype, but you don't have to follow those. You can pair any abilites you want. Kriss Lehmann so there is a lot of freedom in choices you make as you go. Kriss Lehmann just sucks that I was on a deadline to play, so I got NO work done this weekend. Kriss Lehmann I did sneak in extra time though. I didn't log out after the cuttoff and kept my char from going afk.. got 12 extra hours to replace what I isle says AND you can change clothes, buy clothes in London, and what you wear doesnt affect your gear or game at all. Kriss Lehmann OH yeah! character appearance isn't tied to your stat gear. That is great too Kriss Lehmann The only thing that is, is weapons, and you have the ability to make weapons look like whatever you have had before Kriss Lehmann by making "molds" of the weapon you like the look of. isle says My favorite looking weapon so far is the Elementalist doll things, each one is so different. isle says I just started a new elementalist templar. I havent worked out the weapon skin thing yet though, I think you just explained what I Kriss Lehmann I saw those, although I ended up with Chaos most times. I would like to try a Elemental/Chaos combo isle says I have a lvl 5 blood/blade that I respecced too many times.. she is good, but I wanted to start again with all my points going straight Kriss Lehmann so much I didn't know my first playthrough... like breaking down potions and weapons to make new things isle says into the best slots.. so I rerolled an eleshotgun and OMG she kicks ass. Kriss Lehmann the quest to fix that dudes shotgun.. I found out that you don't HAVE to make a shotgun Kriss Lehmann you can make your second weapon from the parts... anything you want isle says Botanical: it is so much cheaper sometimes to buy new weapons... at least up to lvl QL 7 ish, finding weapon kits and saving up mats uggh Kriss Lehmann hahah yeah, I was like MOAR weapon or barrier potion drops plz! Kriss Lehmann I still don't know what the deal is with breaking things down though... sometimes I could break down quest items, sometimes not isle says some of them are bugged Kriss Lehmann sometimes I could break down found items, sometimes not Kriss Lehmann yeah, people kept saying that. I saw no rhyme or reason behind what I could and couldn't reuse isle says the odd bug is frustrating, last night I was killing a wendigo for the longest time before I realised his health wasnt going under 1/3 isle says then I went to bed. lol isle says That was the second bugged wendigo I was like that, 2 totally different quests. First one was fixed with the last update. isle says Wendigos are tricky. Kriss Lehmann I didn't run across anything like that. I kept having trouble with textures going low rez though. isle says Off to work, thanks for the tsw chat, I need then to get through the day lol. Kriss Lehmann I think it's because my graphics defaulted to DX11 and I needed to set it to DX9 isle says OH I did that!! isle says Took it right back, the first day.. I would run for an hour, and everything would freeze and crash, went back in DX and it was fine. Kriss Lehmann lol I only figured it out after the cuttoff, so I couldn't log back in to see if it fixed it. isle says ok going. stop being interesting. isle says shit, late. runs Damo Face So that's where you've been all week (lol moo Money says I think I love TSW because I grew up reading Koontz and King, and this is the kind of stuff they would write about. Some of it is so cliched moo Money says in horror movies, but amazing experiencing it yourself. I got to ride a haunted rollercoaster! Then I got my ass kicked by a bogeyman Gahum Ah! So it wasn't just me that had the unkillable wendigo. Gahum I was helping Vas out and it would get to 1/2 and then stop. Apparently it wouldn't run off to the next point to move the mission forward ♥ Lolita ♥ I really enjoyed the free weekend! It's a keeper for sure but I will not be getting it until after or during the holidays. ♥ Lolita ♥ I want them to add respecing to the list of things I want in the game. Also the servers going down a bunch this weekend was ♥ Lolita ♥ But I loved the feel and play of the game. isle says moomoney: I love that whole aspect. And the Lovecraft, and stuff like... me telling my daughter "just let me do this Elm Street" thing, isle says and her saying.. 'Did you just say "ELM STREET" and I laughed, didnt even register.
