Mari says To be fair, first off: this is not a complaint about collabor88, its designers, nothing. I just felt the need to provide the context. Mari says So I go to Collabor88 every month. I have also gone to a lot of other, similar things in the past. They're my favorite place to shop. Mari says You see, even though I'm a kid avvie, I tend to buy a lot of my clothing from adult designers, and make 'em fit me. Mari says Maybe it's the challenge of it all, but I just enjoy seeing what I can come up with. I've found some of my favorite outfits this way. Mari says With the advent of rigged mesh clothing, however, my ability to shop like this is now gone. Not limited, gone. Mari says I wandered around Collabor88, saw a cute jacket. can't wear it. it has model-ed in boobs. Mari says I saw this great skirt. Can't wear it. I have a tummy. And narrow hips. Mari says I would have been worse off with a pair of pants. I don't bother to try those anymore. Mari says They don't fit my knock knees. Or my butt. or that tummy. Mari says My fave hair designer has his first mesh hair out this time too. Surely this will be fine? Mari says No. Looks to full on my head, and sits too low on me. Total wash. Mari says There weren't trouble before, but they are for me now. Before, I could just tweak it all to fit. but rigged mesh cannot be tweaked Mari says Standard Sizing? A good idea, but useless for me. There is no "no breasts" option... Darla Granger says Clothes, I understand the frustration. But hair... you may just need to tweak your head shape a bit. Mesh hair all fits me just fine. I've Mari says ...let alone no standard sizing for a slightly chubby avatar, a knock-kneed avatar, etc. Mari says So basically, I have few options: (1) I could radically change my avatar, which IMO is not an option. Mari says (2) I could pin my hopes on a mesh deformer that, IMO, isn't going to work well on my avvie, because it will fold into all the bad spots. Mari says (3) Not bother to wear mesh clothing, which is the only rational option of an undesirable trio. Mari says Doesn't stop me from being sad to see this option cut off for me. Mari says For what it's worth, I'm willing to accept that this is the price of choosing to be a unique avatar. But that's what I am. Mari says I'm not asking anyone to change what they build. The whole thing just stinks, though. moo Money says You have every right to rant, but know that you're not the only person it affects. I have probably a 30 chest, but mesh has megaboobs. I ☠Peppersleh☠ I have the opposite problem as Pepper...Most mesh stuff isn't curvy ENOUGH. >_< moo Money says tried on some Exile hair the other day and it was too small for my head. To modify my forehead would have been to change my whole head moo Money says shape. Mesh won't be the end of sculpts at all. Darla Granger says Did you try to tweak your head shape a bit, though, in order to make it fit? Everyone who wears mesh has had to tweak their shape a bit. moo Money says ildolcefarniente: I'm like Mari. I'm not changing my shape for anything. If it doesn't fit, I'm not buying it. Darla Granger says I have an adult avie that I use, not much. She mostly collects dust... but I did have to tweak her shape a bit to wear mesh pants. I thought Mari says ildolcefarniente: moomoney: Ya, that was the trouble I had. It was not a "minor tweak" it was a fairly big change in my appearance. Darla Granger says of it as a small sacrifice for a greater good - mesh. Lol. moo Money says Hell, even standard sizing isn't the be all end all. I'm generally an S in dresses and pants. In high-waisted mesh skirts? Nope. M is too moo Money says small and L is too large. Am I going to tweak my shape a bit to make it work? Nah. I just refuse to buy anything that doesn't have a demo Mari says ildolcefarniente: And there's the difference. I am not a "dust collecting" avatar. This has been my face since 2006... Mari says and one I wear daily. Darla Granger says No demo = no purchase. Same for me. But if I have to tweak my shape a bit, I will, so long as it is not drastic. Mari says I can agree to minor chance to make things fit, and alphas can help with a lot of hassles. I really am flexible... Allegory says NOTHING rigged mesh should be sold without a demo, with the possible exception of things like nails that really do have all the sliders Mari says ...but I can only bend so far here. This is too much moo Money says I also really resent people telling me to "just" change my shape a bit. I don't run around telling people their shapes look trashy. Mari says Allegory: Oh ya. I have bought a great many mesh demos in my day. But not much beyond that. Darla Granger says Well, just because I don't use that avatar as often as I use my main doesn't mean I don't like keeping true to what she looks like. She's Darla Granger says still very much my avie but if I want to wear mesh jeans and my stomach pops out over the waist a bit, and it takes lowering my stomach Mari logs in to take a piccie Darla Granger says size five points on the slider... I'm a-okay with doing that. moo Money says The only thing I've tweaked to make my shape fit mesh was my gravity chest slider. Smaller boobs = more gravity, but my size 30 chest moo Money says wasn't even fitting size L! I had to sag some to fit things.
Allegory says there are things i wouldn't consider buying because they won't fit me (i'm not well endowed)- but it was the same with sculpts. there are Allegory says just things that i never considered because they wouldn't fit, no matter how much i modded them. moo Money says I actually haven't noticed much of an issue with mega boobs on mesh outfits. I can't remember what a size S chest works out to, but it was moo Money says probably something like a 45 or 50 or something? It's not too huge IIRC. Allegory says it is for me
Alle is flat by design, she'd look idiotic with that. moo Money says I don't really have anything against large chests. I think I have some sort of psychological aversion to them in SL because I am IRL. Allegory says Alle's boobs have been 14 from the day she rezzed. my first av had boobs, it doesn't suit Alle. moo Money says I used to be much flatter and a lot taller, which was the opposite of me IRL. Some people met me and told me it was weird.
Allegory says hahah, i'm the intimidating pale green 'hawked dragon lady
moo Money says I get it though. I feel weird with larger boobs, but I'm also bad at assessing them in the 30-50 range. They're usually S, M, Watermelon. Allegory says i've never been super huge on many attachments though, i still gravitate mostly to things that work well painted on. moo Money says I'm gonna be honest. I hate sculpt leg and arm attachments. There! I said it!
Mari shares
A photo. All "XXS" or smallest mesh version available. No alpha, just a UV suit. Mari shares I think I pretty much covered all the issues above with fit.
Mari shares moomoney: I'm not the biggest fan either, though some of my favorite outfits are "made" by their inclusion. Mari shares (Also should add: the four stores I'm wearing demos from are all GREAT stores. Love 'em to bits. Can't wear a darn thing now from them) Allegory says oh- you might actually see if you can move the hair around. the rigged part won't move, but the bangs may not be rigged, and moving those Allegory says might help the head shape thing a bit (i don't know if bubbles ended up rigging them- they weren't rigged originally, haven't checked since Allegory says it was released for reals though!) ~Nimil~ says I wonder why no kid mesh has come out... Surely someone among the community has the skills BubblesClawtooth The bangs did end up being rigged Alle just because for the most part it was going to be easier for most customers. However, that being BubblesClawtooth said Bubbles feels absolutely terrible that the hair doesn't work for you Mari! BubblesClawtooth Mesh hair is something everyone has been requesting and Bubbles felt as though he should give it a go. Perhaps in the future he can look BubblesClawtooth into doing different sizes...but since this was his first swing at it (and there is still much memorizing/learning to be done) he went with Heath Matters To answer above, there is a designer who came out with mesh for kids, but i think the problem is kids don't all want to look the same Heath Matters I personally can't make mesh clothing parts myself yet, I dunno if i will get something working eventually, but i think regular clothing is Heath Matters always going to be viable in some way, or I hope it is. Those of us that have dedicated years to it have a hard time watching it fall away Chelsea Ann says This is why I'm not a big fan of mesh clothing. For everything else it's fine but I can't see it replacing sculpts or regular prims because Chelsea Ann says Of the versatility and ability to mod it to whatever size you are. In the kid world there's so many different sizes and shapes. From CeejayWriter I'm enjoying mesh hair and shoes, as an adult female avatar. But no clothing. No. I will not change one pixel to conform to a mesh outfit. CeejayWriter Call me stubborn, but Ceejay existed before Mesh did, and that's just how it will be for us. Kiersten☆ My avi is big too! Like, I have to mod shirt prims to fit my arms, and pant prims to fit around my thighs, and chest ones to cover my gut Kiersten☆ and I haven't had any issues wearing the few mesh things I have? Mari says nimil: Only one kid designer has really gotten into mesh, and that is Loki Eliot. Some great boy clothes. I've seen a couple other examples Mari says But the larger kid clothing places have been, at best, resistant to mesh. Many never learned to model, sticking to "sculpt packs" and such. Mari says BubblesClawtooth: Oh, and I think you did quite a wonderful job, too. If anything, I look forward to seeing what you come up with next... Mari says ...even if I may be watching it, not wearing it. Mari says Hmm... did that picture fully upload last night? Won't load for me today. Mari shares ChelseaG: I'd love to see more kid designers work on rigged mesh. Would be great for dealing with problematic parts of the avatar mesh... Mari shares ...like the fold at the shoulders that we all fight with. Kara Timtam Some mesh designer really REALLY needs to take advantage of the Kid Avie market, and just anybody who wants to depict a realistic human Kara Timtam not just fantasy supermodels with antigravitic boobage ~Nimil~ says i wish i could make mesh clothes i would definitely do some kid stuff D: Chelsea Ann says I wish I could make mesh clothes for kids too, but I don't have time to learn it.
